Making Money [ ]

Making Money

  • Sell items for units Units.png on the Galactic Trade Network. Find Trade Terminals in Space Stations, Outposts and Shops.
  • Mine Precious Metals from asteroids in space, or use the Analysis Visor to locate valuable resource deposit on planets.
  • The Mission Board on Space Stations is a good source of income. Visit the Mission Board to find available jobs. See the Mission Board entry for more details.
  • Install an Economy Scanner in your starship to gain access to economic data on the Galaxy Map, then plan trade routes to maximise profit. Find complementary economy types for the perfect trade route.
  • Farming can be highly lucrative. Find a good balance of crops and use them to craft new items.

Farming [ ]

Farming

  • Farming can be highly lucrative. Find a good balance of crops and use them to craft new items. Combining crafted items into more advanced devices will yield even greater profits.
  • Build an Agricultural Terminal and hire a Farmer to research new plant types.
  • Plants can be grown outside if the weather matches their natural habitat. Otherwise, construct a Hydroponics Tray to nurture the plant.
  • Large-scale farms may benefit from the decreased maintenance requirements of Large Hydroponic Trays.
  • Plants can be harvested once fully grown. Some plants require Haz-Mat Gauntlets, which can be acquired from a Armourer employed at a Weapons Terminal.
  • Each plant species has their own yields and growth times. Find a balance of crops to maximise overall profits.

Crafting [ ]

Crafting

  • Crafting advanced products is a great way to earn money.
  • Mine metals from resource deposits found using Analysis Visor (Key F). Mine using the Terrain Manipulator.
  • Advanced users with a Survey Device upgrade for the Analysis Visor can make use of Mineral and Gas Extractors. These advanced modules are capable of generating endless free power and resources if sited correctly.
  • Combining metals generates Alloys. Combining gases creates Compounds.
  • Combining these with each other or with Agricultural Products from farming allows the creation of even more valuable items.
  • The most valuable items require resources from multiple worlds. Find systems with the right combination of materials for the optimum crafting setup.
  • Acquire new product blueprints by hiring a Scientist at your base, or by visiting planetary Factories and Harvesters.

Trading Basics [ ]

Trading Basics

  • Resources command different prices in different systems. Install an Economy Scanner in your starship to gain access to economic data on the Galaxy Map.
  • Plan trade routes to maximise profit. Find complementary economy types for the perfect trade route. Most goods are influenced by the economy of a system (for example, minerals are cheaper in Mining economies and more expensive in Industrial economies).
  • Study the details of Trade Goods to learn where to sell them for the most profit.
  • The greatest profit for a trader lies in transporting specific trade goods. These receive the largest economy-based discounts and bonuses. The wealth of a system influences how many goods they have available to sell. High wealth systems are also more likely to have high quality starships.

Advanced Trading [ ]

Advanced Trading

  • Items can be sold for units Units.png on the Galactic Trade Network. Find Trade Terminals in Space Stations and shops.
  • Players with bases can construct a Trade Terminal of their own after unlocking the blueprint at the Construction Research Station aboard the Space Anomaly.
  • Some more rare resources might be more easily purchased than found. Most visitors to the Space Station and Trade Outposts can be traded with, and different species specialise in different goods.
  • Resources command different prices in different systems. Install an Economy Scanner in your starship to gain access to economic data on the Galaxy Map.

Freighters [ ]

Freighters

  • To buy a Freighter, board it and speak to the Captain. Saving a Freighter from Pirates will make it cheaper.
  • When on a planet, summon your freighter to your current system with the Quick Menu (Key X).
  • Players with freighters may own up to six starships. Purchase ships as they fly into the freighter's docking bay to store them onboard.
  • The freighter offers advanced warp capability. Use the map on the bridge to access the Galaxy Map.
  • Freighters offer large inventories. Slots on freighters can store larger stacks than any other inventory type.
  • Transfer items to your freighter from your inventory using (Key X). To retrieve stored objects, speak to the Captain. Larger, more expensive freighters offer the largest inventories.
  • Freighters allow onboard construction. Place base building parts in the designated construction area to make a portable base. Place Storage Containers for extra inventory space

Freighter Fleets [ ]

Freighter Fleets

  • Command of a large Capital Ship offers several benefits. High among these is the ability to command a fleet of Frigates.
  • Find and purchase Frigates to add them to your fleet. Recruitable frigates in a freighter group will be marked with an icon. Approach a recruitable frigate and speak with them on the Starship Communicator.
  • There are several types of frigate, and each individual ship varies in quality. While not on expeditions, frigates will perform tasks related to their abilities. Land on a frigate to collect the rewards from these tasks.
  • Trade frigates will accumulate wealth, science vessels will provide scans to ancient artifacts, supply ships will generate fuel, and mining vessels will collect minerals. Combat ships will come to your aid if you fight nearby pirates.

Fleet Expeditions [ ]

Fleet Expeditions

  • Expeditions require a Fleet Command Room. Construct a Command Post in the habitable area between the bridge and the hanger.
  • The Navigator plans expeditions for your fleet. Visit the Navigator on the freighter's bridge to see currently available expeditions. A new set of expeditions are plotted each day. Expeditions have varying specialisations and difficulty.
  • Higher-class ships will contribute more to any Expedition you send them on. Completing expeditions will increase the strength of a frigate.
  • Longer or larger expeditions require more fuel. Supply ships reduce fuel requirements. Expeditions can be equipped with temporary upgrades to boost their capabilities.
  • Expeditions cover long distances and may take a considerable amount of time to complete. Track the expedition's progress at the Fleet Command Room. Expeditions continue in real time and do not require their owner to be actively present.
