For ii years from date of purchase, when this Craftsman Weedtrimmer is maintained,

lubricated, and tuned upward according to the operating and maintenance instructions in

the possessor's manual, Sears volition repair free of accuse any defect in material or workman-

ship.

If this Craftsman Weedtrimmer is used for commercial or rental purposes, this warranty

applies for only 90 days from the date of purchase.

This Warranty does non encompass:

WARNING: This trimmer is equipped with an internal combustion engine and should

not be used on or near any unimproved woods-covered, brush-covered or grass-

covered land unless the engine'southward frazzle arrangement is equipped with a spark arrester

meeting applicable local or state laws (if any). If a spark arrester is used, it should be

maintained in effective working order by the operator.

In the state of California the above is required past law (Section 4442 of the California

Public Resources Lawmaking). Other states may have similar laws. Federal laws use on

federal lands. A spark arrester for the muffler is available through your nearest Sears

service center (See REPAIR PARTS section of this manual).

L GENERAL Functioning

- Never store the machine or fuel

container inside where in that location is an

open flame, such as a water heater.

- Move away from fueling site earlier

starting engine.

Never run a car inside a closed

area.

Never make adjustments or repairs

with the engine (motor) running.

Disconnect the spark plug wire, and

keep the wire away from the plug to

prevent accidental starting.

Keep nuts and bolts, particularly tdmmer

head and engine bolts, tight and keep

equipment in good status.

Never tamper with safety devices.

Check their proper operation regularly.

Keep automobile free of grass, leaves, or

other debris buildup. Clean oil or fuel

spillage. Allow machine to cool before

cleaning or storing.

Stop and audit the equipment if you

strike an object. Repair, if necessary,

earlier restarting.

setting or overspeed the engine.

Make clean and replace safe and instruc-

tion decals as necessary.

TRIMMER HEAD Drive CONTROL

Your trimmer is equipped with a trimmer

head drive control bar and lever which

require the operator to be positioned

behind the trimmer handle to operate the

trimmer.

BEFORE STARTING ENGINE

ADD OIL

Your trimmer is shipped without oil in the

engine. For type and grade of oil to use,

see "ENGINE" in the Maintenance section

of this manual.

A, CAUTION: Practice NOT overfill engine with

oil, or information technology will smoke on startup.

1. Be certain trimmer is level and area

around oil fill up is make clean.

ii. Remove oil dipstickfrom oil make full spout.

Brand sure that rim of spout is clean.

iii. You receive a 20 oz. container of oil

with the unit. Slowly pour iii/four (15 oz.)

of the oil from the container down the

oil make full spout into the engine.

four. Wait one minute to allow oil to settle.

Insert and tighten dipstick, and then

remove it to bank check oil level.

5. Keep adding small amounts of oil

and rechecking the dipstick until it

reads full. DO Not overfill, or engine

will smoke on startup.

6. Always exist certain to retighten oil dipstick

before starting engine.

Check oil level before each utilize. Add oil if

needed. Fill upto total line on dipstick.

longer. Drain the gas tank, start the

and carburetor are empty. Apply fresh fuel

next season. See Storage Instructions for

boosted information. Never use engine

or carburetor cleaner products in the fuel

tank or permanent damage may occur.

General RECOMMENDATIONS

The warranty on this trimmer does not

cover items that have been subjected to

operator abuse or negligence. To receive

full value from the warranty, operator must

LUBRICATION

Utilise only high quality detergent oil rated

with API service classification SF-SJ.

Select the oil's ShE viscosity form

co-ordinate to your expected operating

temperature.

NOTE: Although multiwiscosity oils

(5W30, 10W30 etc.) amend starting in

cold conditions, these multi-viscosity oils

will result in increased oil consumption

when used above 32°F. Check your

engine oil level more frequently to avoid

possible engine harm from running

low on oil.

Modify the oil after every 25 hours of

operation or at to the lowest degree in one case a year if the

unit is not used for 25 hours in one year.

Check the crankcase oil level before

starting the engine and after each v (5)

hours of continuous utilise. Tighten oil plug

securely each time you bank check the oil

level.

Note: Before tipping trimmer to drain

MUFFLER

Audit and replace corroded muffler every bit

SPARK PLUG

Turn trimmer on its side. Make sure air

filter and carburetor are up. Clean the

underside of your trimmer past scraping

accumulating. A clogged engine runs

We do not recommend using a garden

shortened engine life.

TO ADJUST HANDLE

The upper handle may exist adjusted to

dissimilar height positions.

Loosen handle knob only enough to

allow the upper handle to pivotto the

desired position.

Tighten handle knob securely.

Annotation: The handle knob and bolt may be

reversed for left handed operation.

TO REMOVE/REPLACE TRIMMER HEAD

1. Remove screw at front of chassis

cover.

ii. Liftembrace up and away from trimmer.

3. Remove the two (2) screws on sides

of trimmer securing the debris shield.

4. Turn trimmer on its side with carbure-

tor and fuel cap upwardly.

5. Remove the two (2) screws on

underside of trimmer securing the

debris shield.

removing bottom chugalug keeper and idler

pulleys.

11.Assemble new belt, idler pulleys and

lesser belt keeper to idler subclass.

Tighten pulley bolts deeply.

NOTE: Exist sure chugalug is inside top chugalug

keeper on idler assembly.

12.Position belt and idler assembly in

trimmer, reconnect idler bound and

get together idler to chassis.

13.Install belt effectually trimmer head pulley

and engine caster.

14.Supercede debris shield and tighten the

iv (four) screws securely.

15.Replace chassis embrace and tighten

screw securely.

ENGINE SPEED

Yourengine speed has been manufactoryset up.

Do not attempt to increment engine speed

or it may issue in personal injury. Ifyous

believe that the engine is running too fast

or too ho-hum, take your unit to a Sears or

other qualified service center for repair

and/or adjustment.

CARBURETOR

Your carburetor has a nonadjustable fixed

main jet for mixture control. If your engine

does non operate properly due to sus-

pected carburetor problems, take your

unit to a Sears or other qualified service

center for repair and/or adjustment.

IMPORTANT: Never tamper with the

engine governor, which is factory set for

proper engine speed. Overspeeding the

engine above the manufactory loftier speed

setting can be dangerous. If y'all think the

engine-governed high speed needs

adjusting, take your unit to a Sears or

other qualified service center, which has

proper equipment and feel to

make any necessary adjustments.

FUELSYSTEM

ENGINEOIL
